Wood Preparation Before Finishing

Cleaning and preparing wood surface.
Old Wood:

Use PENOFIN'S THREE-STEP SYSTEM to restore and prepare your wood surface for perfect results!

If the wood was previously finished with a brand other than Penofin Oil Wood Finish, use Step #1 Pro-Tech Stripper. If the prior finish was a 100% acrylic water-based product, use a conventional paint stripper. This fast-acting, oil-base finish and paint remover works in thirty minutes! Follow the directions on the label for easy stripping every time!

Also use Penofin Pro-Tech Stripper to ensure proper penetration of Penofin Oil Wood Finishes. To test the wood's absorbency, sprinkle a few drops of water on the surface; if water does not penetrate after a few minutes, stripping with Penofin Pro-Tech Stripper is necessary.

Next apply Step #2 Pro-Tech Cleaner to remove mold, mildew, or surface dirt. Finally restore the wood back to its original mill-bright color by using Step #3 Pro-Tech Brightener. This easy-to-use wood brightener removes the gray appearance caused by wood tannins.

Old wood: Old wood is more porous and may need more stain to cover the surface. Average coverage per gallon is 250 square feet. Consider that older wood may need more finish when buying for the project.

Don't replace! Restore with PENOFIN'S THREE-STEP SYSTEM!

New Wood:

Use Protech Cleaner to remove surface dirt and kill mold and mildew spores that may be living in your new wood. Follow the easy directions on the label for fast and effective cleaning.

It is our recommendation to apply a light coat of Penofin Oil Wood Finish to your wood surface while it is "seasoning". Why let the damage occur? Protect your investment from the beginning!

If you have allowed the wood surface to "season" or age before finishing, use Protech Brightener to remove any discoloration caused by tannins.

Allow the wood to dry for ideal penetration of PENOFIN OIL WOOD FINISH.
