Technical Facts About Penofin®
- Applications: Brush, sprayer, or stain pad.
- For best results brush or spray(garden or commercial airless sprayers) on two coats with a minimum of three hours drying time between each coat if more than one coat is required.
- For each coat, let Penofin® penetrate into the wood for 20-30 minutes, then wipe the entire surface with a clean, nap-free cloth.
- Maximum performance on kiln-dried lumber.
- For unseasoned wood, allow 30 days drying time before application.
- Penofin is an oil-based product. Clean brushes and other application materials with mineral spirits or paint thinner.
- Avoid contact with metals, i.e., metal brushes and steel wool; tannic acid in cedar and redwood will have a chemical reaction which will darken the wood.
Product Performance
- Expect 2-4 years on vertical surfaces, 9-18 months on horizontal surfaces depending on use and weather exposure.
- No need for primer or thinners. Penofin contains aromatic and aliphatic solvents. (% of solids by volume: 25% +/-2%)
Maintenance
- In well-traveled areas, clean periodically with a mild detergent.
Coverage
- Smooth surfaces 200-300 square feet. Rough surfaces 125-175 square feet (a gallon) for both coats if required.
Caution & Warnings
- Combustible! Keep this product away from heat, open flame and sparks.
- Beware of spontaneous combustion. Make certain all rags or other materials used with Penofin are properly ventilated, soaked in water, stored in an airtight container, or otherwise disposed of safely and in accordance with local regulations.
- Avoid contact with skin and breathing of vapor or spray mist. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not take internally.
- If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately.
- Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet and product label for more information.
- Shelf life is limited once factory seal is broken. Secure lid tightly after each use and do not use or thin congealed product. KEEP THIS AND ALL PENOFIN PRODUCTS OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
