Corporate Philosophy
Hello, I'm Dr. Barbara Newell, CEO & Chairman of the Board of
Penofin-Performance Coatings Inc. I am pleased to welcome you to our
"Volunteer America" corporate-giving program. A corporation, by
definition, is a group of individuals working together to achieve a common
goal. We feel that corporations should take responsibility for social
action.
I feel strongly about volunteering to help the sick, ill, injured, and
unfortunate. People in need of our help can be found all around us, in our
schools, churches, synagogues, at local hospitals, health centers, and elder-care centers.
It is imperative, in the first decade of the new millennium, that we
recommit our energies to reach out to others in need. Penofin® is a proud
member of the Points of Light Foundation. This organization was created to
honor volunteers and volunteer organizations across America and to encourage
corporations to involve their employees, vendors, customers, and distributors
in continuing to promote social change.
I am proud of Penofin-Performance Coatings Inc. and our employees. I feel it is
important to bring volunteer action portraits to light to encourage others
to reach out to help those in need.
I hope you will read and enjoy Point of Light: Portrait of an American
Volunteer. This is the true story of my husband, Castle Skip Newell III, President of Penofin-Performance Coatings Inc. His twenty-year adventure in trying to improve the
human condition in very rural America is a story of volunteerism, joy,
despair, defeat, and triumph. It's a story that will inspire you to reach
out to someone in need. It is my hope that each of you who reads this will
commit to helping someone, somewhere. The person in need may be a part of
your community, a coworker, or neighbor!
I invite you to write, or e-mail here at Penofin with a story of your own,
or of someone you know who is volunteering. I'll tell their story on
our web site. We are proud of all who volunteer and we would like to honor
those who give of themselves to help others.
Sincerely,
Dr. Barbara Newell
